Mentor City SealOhio Primary Election Plans Revised
The Ohio primary election will not be held on June 8th as previously planned. Instead, the 2020 Ohio Primary will be conducted by mail in absentee ballot. Ballots must be received by April 28, 2020.  To receive an absentee ballot, voters must submit an Absentee Ballot Application. On Section 6 of the application,  please list March 17, 2020 as the election date, check the box next to “Primary Election” and write the name of the political party ballot you would like to vote or check Issues-Only if you do not want to vote in a political party’s primary election.

KEY DATES

  • April 25, 2020 by 12:00 p.m. Noon: Deadline to request mailed absentee ballot.
  • April 27, 2020: Absentee ballots returned by mail must contain a postmark of Monday, April 27, 2020.
  • April 28, 2020 – 7:30 p.m.: Deadline to return absentee ballot to the ballot drop box located outside of the Board of Elections.

Municipal & State Tax Filings Extended to July 15
Governor DeWine signed a bill today extending municipal and state tax filing deadline to July 15, 2020. RITA has suspended in-person assistance until further notice, however you can contact RITA at 800.860.7482 for additional information and assistance by phone.

Mentor Senior Center Hot Lunch Pickup
The Mentor Senior Center is offering curbside pickup for a “made-from-scratch” daily special. The cost is $4.50 per meal. However, the Lake County Senior Services levy will subsidize $2 per meal for seniors. Therefore, the cost for seniors is $2.50 per meal. All seniors in Lake County are welcome. You do not need to be a Senior Center member.

Reservations for lunch must be made at least 24 business hours prior, however we expect to sell out quickly. We suggest registering for a week at a time. Reservations can be made online or by phone at 440.974.5725 and paid for with a credit card. Please call to request a username and password to register online. Pickup time is 11:30 – 12:00. Please pull up to the curb at the Munson Road entrance. Please show identification or receipt. A volunteer will get your meal for you. Learn more.

Concerns Over “Stay at Home” Order Compliance
Concerns regarding compliance to the Stay at Home Order in Lake County may be reported to the Lake County General Health District at COVID19@lcghd.org or 440-350-2188. Individuals seeking anonymity are encouraged to report via telephone. Due to an increased volume of inquiries, and the need to consult with Ohio Department of Health and legal expertise, it may take up to 48 hours to respond and/or resolve a complaint.

Mentor Recreation Programs & Rentals Suspended
The City of Mentor is committed to the health and safety of our community.  At this time, we have decided to cancel programs/rentals through April 30, 2020 at a majority of our facilities in order to align our operations with the orders/recommendations of the national, state and local health experts. Our Summer Program Guide is available to view online; however, registration has been suspended at this time.  Please check back with us to see updates on the registration process.  Thank you for your understanding and please stay healthy and safe.

Mentor Parks Basketball Courts Closed
Due the close physical contact inherent in the game of basketball, all basketball courts are closed until further notice. Pickleball and tennis courts will remain open.

Parks and Black Brook Golf Course Open
Parks and trails remain open for your enjoyment with the exception of playgrounds. Skatepark is closed. Black Brook Golf Course remains open. No carts – walking only.  Range is closed. No access to the club house except for use of restrooms. Please maintain physical distance while you enjoy our great outdoors.
