Have you considered a career as an emergency dispatcher? Responsibilities include processing 9-1-1 emergency calls, determining priorities, providing emergency medical pre-arrival instructions and dispatching emergency units. High school diploma or GED is required, and extensive training is provided.

Public Works seeks mechanics, maintenance workers, and maintenance aides.

Over 200 part-time, temporary, and seasonal positions are available in the Parks & Recreation department as they gear up for summer programs and events. Lifeguards and camp counselors are a particular need.

Camp Supervisors should have the skills to communicate with campers and parents daily. Good organizational skills and the ability to be flexible is a must and preference is given to college graduates in the fields of Elementary Education, Recreation and Physical Education.

We need lifeguards! Many residents are aware that Garfield Pool was closed last season due to staffing shortages. In addition to that closure, some water features at Mentor Civic Center Pool were closed, and Morton Pool was forced to close on several occasions throughout the summer as the state-mandated minimum number of lifeguards could not be met.  Applicants must be strong swimmers and possess a valid American Red Cross (or similar) Lifeguarding Training Certification which includes CPR for Professional Rescuers Certification & First Aid. Classes are currently being offered through Mentor Recreation and fees will be reimbursed for those who work as a lifeguard at a Mentor pool this summer.  Students must be 15 years of age, attend all classes, and pass the written & physical tests to become certified.

And last but not least, the new Mentor Community Recreation Center has a number of part-time and temporary openings including lifeguards, office assistants, soccer center coordinators, childcare attendants, cashiers, and much more!
