The unemployment rate in December 2022 for the City of Mentor decreased 0.6% to 2.7% and one year ago, the unemployment rate was 3.2%. For Lake County, the unemployment rate decreased 0.4% to 3.3% in December 2022 and one year prior, it was 4.1%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Mentor has the lowest unemployment rate with 2.7%, Lakewood has the next lowest rate at 2.8%. Kettering has the third lowest rate with 3.1%, and Columbus and Cleveland Heights have the fourth lowest rate at 3.2%. The City’s civilian labor force increased 800 to 26,300.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate decreased 0.8% to 3.3% in December 2022. The rate for the State was 3.7% in December 2021.
