In mid-July the U.S. Bureau of the Census released data for Ohio pertaining to Accommodation and Food Services for 2012. The City of Mentor’s ranking in terms of the number of food services and drinking places increased from 8th to 7th in the State of Ohio with 166 establishments from 2007 to 2012.
Mentor ranks 4th among the top 10 cities in terms of the sales/establishment at $900,837 and 1st in terms of the number of establishments per capita.
The number of establishments in Mentor increased by 6 (or 4%), with sales increasing by 2%, payroll by 3% and the number of paid employees decreasing by 0.5%. By comparison, the number of establishments in both the county and Cleveland-Elyria-Mentor MSA declined by 6%.
Sales per establishment increased a more robust 6% within Lake County and 12% in the MSA, while the annual payroll increased by 8% in Lake County and 12% in the MSA and the number of employees virtually remained the same in Lake County and declined 1% in the MSA.
