The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor increased 0.2% to 3.1% for the month of August 2023. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 4.0%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate increased 0.1% to 3.3% for the month of August; one year prior, it was 4.0%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Mentor has the lowest unemployment rate with 3.1%, Lakewood has the next lowest rate at 3.3%. Kettering and Columbus have the third lowest rate with 3.5%, Parma has the fourth lowest rate at 3.6%, and Cleveland Heights has the fifth lowest rate at 3.7%. The City’s civilian labor force decreased 300 to 27,300.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate increased 0.3% to 3.7% for the month of August 2023. The rate for the State was 4.2% in August 2022.
