The Court Liaison Officer is responsible for safety and security of the Mentor Municipal Court. This position is comprised of four part-time sworn officers. The on-duty officer appears at all arraignments in the Mentor Municipal Court in lieu of the arresting officers. Additional duties include transporting prisoners to and from the Court and the Lake County Jail, along with obtaining the proper Court paperwork needed to take with the prisoner. The officer also ensures timely delivery of official documents to and from the Court, including criminal complaints, arrest reports, commits, discharges, warrants, and subpoenas. The Court Officers coordinate with Court, Records, Jail, Dispatch, and the City Prosecutor’s office personnel daily. There are also two additional part-time Officers that manage the front door of the Court and Police Department entrance. They make sure all persons entering have business with these areas and are scanned for weapons, contraband, etc.
