ORIGINAL POST – June 30, 2022 2:00 PM
Residents and businesses near the railroad tracks north of Jackson Street are advised that Dominion will be performing a gas pressure hydrotest project in the coming weeks in Mentor, Painesville, and Painesville Township.
Work in Mentor will begin early next week as crews stage equipment at the Mentor Dog Park. Traffic control will be in place and access to the park may be affected intermittently for a period of several hours while equipment is unloaded.
Once the equipment is staged, work will commence on pressure testing of the lines between Hopkins Road and Heisley Road which will require the release of natural gas. Those in the area may experience a gas smell as the pipes are bled. The smell should not last for more than a few hours. The Mentor Fire Department is aware of the project and will be monitoring the process. Please do not call 911 unless you are having an emergency.
An exact date on when the gas will be released has not yet been determined but will be shared with the public as it is received.
Work in this area should last for approximately two weeks with minimal impact. Crews will then move east for the remainder of the project.
Gas service will not be affected. Additional information will be posted in the coming days.
