On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, local emergency sirens in Lake, western Ashtabula, and northern Geauga counties will be tested to make sure the sirens are in good working order. Wednesday at 11:00 AM, you’ll hear a steady siren tone for approximately three minutes. This test is part of the local emergency preparedness program conducted to ensure that the sirens around the Perry Power Plant are working properly.
WHAT A SIREN CAN SIGNAL
Areas around the Perry Plant have emergency sirens. The sirens being tested would sound if there is a recommendation for the public to take protective action such as shelter or evacuation. Sirens would be sounded three times, and each three-minute sounding would be separated by a 30-second break. You may also be warned by loud speakers used by fire and police departments.
In the event of an actual emergency, turn on your radio or television and tune to one of the following stations.
