Two ChargePoint Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations have recently been installed at Eleanor B. Garfield Park and are now available for use by the public.
These handicap accessible stations are located in the top parking lot and can accommodate up to four electric vehicles of any make and model.
A ChargePoint App and account is required. Users can access the system with their smart phone. The app will you know the status of your charge while you’re enjoying your time at the park and will automatically deduct the balance from your account. The city was awarded a grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Diesel Mitigation Trust Fund* in the amount of $30,000 as well as a $10,000 grant from the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council towards the installation of these units. The units were installed at a cost of $27,797 with the city contributing approximately $2,500 in materials as well as $2,500 in labor.
The City of Mentor is pleased to offer this convenience option to park goers and add to the growing number of EV charging stations in our area. And, that’s not all. An additional charging station with one DC Fast Charge port and one Level 2 port will be installed at the Mentor Municipal Center in the near future which will be funded through a Federal and NOACA grant.
