First Energy Lineman

According to FirstEnergy, 45,000 customers in the service area are still without power as a result of the Winter Storm that impacted our area. Currently, there are over 1,600 hazard/wire-down orders and additional orders are coming through as residents have the opportunity to assess their properties. Residents are reminded to treat any downed power line as ENERGIZED and DANGEROUS.

Please report a power outage by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (544-4877) or through FirstEnergy’s Storm Center.  Although a neighbor may have called, it’s important to remember that repairs that restore the largest number of customers are given priority.

Customers who receive overhead electric service are also reminded that if damage occurs to their home’s exterior electrical system, that FirstEnergy is responsible for the service drop (the wires running from the utility pole to the home) and the electric meter. The property owner is responsible for other components including the house pipe and meter base. As FirstEnergy does not own this equipment, crews do not carry materials to make these types of repairs. At times, power may only be restored to a customer’s property after they (or their private contractor) perform repairs to the damaged house pipe and meter base.

FirstEnergy has posted a “global ETR” (estimated time of restoral) of 11:00 PM, Thursday. At this time, every crew is engaged in restoration efforts with the help of over 700 mutual assistance workers.  All personnel continue to work 16-hour shifts in order to restore power as quickly as possible.

If you are currently without power and utilizing a generator, please follow these generator safety guidelines.

Additional information will be posted when it is provided by FirstEnergy.
