The American Rhythm Folk Ensemble will perform at the Mentor Civic Amphitheater on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 7:30 PM. American Rhythm’s 2021 show “Family Gathering” takes audiences on a trip through American History via live folk music and dances that tell the stories of those who came before. Their repertoire reflects America’s diverse heritage, including Bluegrass, Charleston, Country Hoedown, Appalachian Running set, Lindy Hop, 1970’s medley, as well as multiple forms of American clogging.
The troupe has represented the United States at International Folk Festivals around the world since 2011. Recent tours have taken them to France, Spain, Mexico, Canada, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Italy.
Alain Pichon, Director of Festival Folklorique International du Rouergue in Rodez, France said, “American Rhythm’s dances enchanted and bowled over the audiences; many people came to tell us this, more than for any other group.”
Christian Euvrard, President of the Rome, Italy Temple Visitors’ Center added, “What a show! It was a real panorama of the US story through dance. So much joy, so [many smiles], so much energy! It was fun, it was beautiful, it was rich!”
The Mentor Civic Amphitheater features lawn seating – attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs. Outside food is permitted although outside alcohol is not. Coolers will be checked at the gate. Admission and parking are free of charge. This is an all-ages show.
