Mentor Fire Smoke Alarms

Working smoke alarms play an important role in home fire escape plans. Smoke alarms provide an early warning so you can get outside quickly.

Install at least one smoke alarm on each level of your home. It’s recommended to have one in every bedroom. Always mount them on the ceiling or high on a wall where smoke will reach them quickly.

Today’s alarms provide a lot of choices. Some can be interconnected so that when one sounds, they all sound. Multi-sensing alarms can include both smoke and carbon monoxide. There are also alarms with strobe lights, specifically designed for those with hearing loss. Test your smoke alarm monthly to ensure it’s working. Change the batteries twice a year if they’re required. And replace all alarms when they’re 10 years old.

Keep your family safe with working smoke alarms.
