Laketran driver Jennifer Sole transports Donna McNamee and Dorothy McCool to LC BOE to vote early.

Laketran’s Vote & Ride program ensures Lake County residents have free public transportation to vote early or on Election Day

To make voting more accessible, Laketran is once again offering free rides to the polls through its Vote & Ride program. Residents can ride any of Laketran’s Local Routes 1–9 or schedule a door-to-door Dial-a-Ride trip at no cost to reach their polling location for the November general election.

Free rides are also available for early voting at the Lake County Board of Elections, located at 105 Main Street in Painesville, beginning October 7 through November 2.

Polling locations in Lake County are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on November 4. There is no in-person voting at the Board of Elections on Election Day.

“Voting is one of the most important ways we can participate in our community and shape its future,” said Laketran CEO Ben Capelle. “Our Vote & Ride program makes sure that transportation is never a barrier to civic engagement, whether you choose to vote early or on Election Day.”

Residents riding Laketran’s Local Routes 1–9 simply need to tell the driver they are traveling to vote or have just voted for a free fare. Dial-a-Ride trips to early voting or polling locations are also free with a reservation made 1 to 14 days in advance by calling Laketran Customer Service at 440-354-6100.

For early voting times or to find your voting location, contact the Lake County Board of Elections at 440-350-2700 or visit their website at https://www.lakecountyohio.gov/boe/.
