Those who drive past Garfield Elementary School on Hopkins Road have probably noticed signs posted on the fence over the past year greeting “Jacob”, Garfield’s resident super hero.
Jacob Goss is a fourth-grader who has been battling cancer for three years.
Jacob’s positive attitude and superhero toughness have served as an inspiration to all who have met him.
It’s a well-known fact that one of the caped crusader’s favorite pastimes is building LEGO®s.
Recognizing that LEGO®s are the nexus between toughness, creativity and fun, Mentor City Council has proclaimed Saturday, April 9, 2016 as “LEGO® Day” in the City of Mentor in Jacob’s honor.
“We should all strive to be more like Jacob in life by fighting through the struggles we are faced with while still taking the time to have fun,” says Janet Dowling, President of Mentor City Council.
The City of Mentor encourages all families to spend quality time together on April 9th by playing with LEGO®s, thereby nurturing creativity, imagination and communication among family members in a positive loving environment.
