Resurfacing of Mentor Avenue from about 500 feet west of Hopkins Road to the Painesville Township line is scheduled to begin Monday, August 24, 2026.
Most of the work will take place at night, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction throughout construction. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.
The project includes full-depth pavement repairs, a new asphalt surface, curb and utility casting repairs, and new radar detection apparatus at traffic signals to improve traffic flow.
Message boards will be placed along Mentor Avenue to provide updates on traffic pattern changes. Additional updates will be posted as they become available.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution and allow extra travel time when traveling through the work zone.
This is the first of a two-phase project. The resurfacing of the remainder of Mentor Avenue to the Willoughby line is scheduled for 2027 pending state budget approval.
