NACL was founded by John Wilson in 1974 a an optical coater for the ophthalmic industry. As the company developed new technology, it expanded into new industry markets with Brian Wilson as the second-generation owner/President and CEO, who set the company on a new path that included advanced coating and hard-coating capabilities with a strong focus on developing key relationships with both their customers and vendors;
North American Coating Laboratories moved to Mentor approximately sixteen years ago and has been propelled into the future by the dedication and leadership of Brian Wilson, with the addition of an infrared department, a full R & D staff, and an acquisition. The company is proud of the relationships it has built in order to offer their customers exceptional coating service and also turnkey options, serving multiple markets including Automotive, Aerospace, Consumer Device, Medical, Military/Defense and more
North American Coating Laboratories has been the recipient of the Fast Track 50 Award and Weatherhead 100, and has been recognized by the Smart Business Network as an award recipient for being an Evolving Manufacturer, and its President/CEO Brian Wilson, has been recognized as an inaugural member of the Photonics 100 that recognizes impact of industry leaders worldwide.
