Springbrook Gardens Pavilion Groundbreaking - Aug 31, 2022

Members of Mentor city council and administration broke ground on a new pavilion at Springbrook Gardens Park during a brief ceremony on August 31, 2022. The 4,400 square foot building is being constructed at a cost of $1.8 million and will contain a warming kitchen, interior/exterior restrooms, and a larger multi-purpose area. Other amenities will include a wood burning fireplace and an outdoor seating area with a pergola. The project is managed by Zerbe Construction and is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

The city purchased the 53-acre Springbrook Gardens nursery from the Schultz family in 2015 for $2.5 million in order to preserve the space and create a predominantly passive-use park. Since then, approximately $7.3 million of improvements have been made including regrading and soil enrichment of the entire property, planting of native flora, expansion of the pond, construction of a boardwalk, installation of 1.7 miles of paved multi-use trails, restoration of a channelized stream which flows through the property, and the addition of a playground.

Springbrook Gardens Park is located at 6776 Heisley Road.
