The unemployment rate in January 2023 for the City of Mentor increased 0.7% to 3.5% and in January 2022, the unemployment rate was 4.3%. For Lake County, the unemployment rate increased 0.8% to 4.1% in January 2023 and one year prior, it was 5.1%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Lakewood has the lowest unemployment rate with 3.3%, Kettering has the next lowest rate at 3.4%. Columbus and Mentor have the third lowest rate with 3.5%. The City’s civilian labor force increased 800 to 26,300.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate increased 0.6% to 4.1% in January 2023. The rate for the State was 4.8% in January 2022.
