The City of Mentor has received the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for their 2015 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The award was presented by Rebecca L. Widowski, Northeast Ohio Regional Liaison for the Auditor of State on October 4, 2016 at the Mentor Municipal Center.
The award is presented to entities which file an annual CAFR and timely financial reports in accordance with GAAP as well as receive a “clean” audit report. The City of Mentor’s financial audit did not contain findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Single Audit findings or any questioned costs.
“The Finance Department is very proud to receive such an award,” says Mentor Finance Director David Malinowski, “Although there is no such thing as a ‘perfect’ audit, this award represents the highest grade given by the State for financial reporting. The award is a reflection upon the coordinated efforts of the dedicated Finance Department staff, City administration, and City Council.”
The Auditor of State Award with Distinction is the highest award issued by the Auditor’s office.
