The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor increased 0.1% to 2.7% for the month of December 2021. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 5.8%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate increased 0.1% as well to 2.9% for the month of December; one year ago, it was 5.8%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, the City of Mentor’s 2.7% unemployment rate is the lowest and Kettering has the second lowest rate at 2.8%. Columbus is third with 3.0%, followed by Lakewood with 3.1%. The City’s civilian labor force decreased to 25,600.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate remained the same at 3.4% for the month of December 2021.
