The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor decreased 0.2% to 3.4% for the month of April 2024. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 3.6%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate decreased 0.5% to 3.7% for the month of April; one year prior, it was 3.1%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Mentor has the lowest unemployment rate with 3.4%, Lakewood has the next lowest rate at 3.6%, Cleveland Heights, Parma and Kettering have the third lowest rate with 3.9%, and Columbus has the fourth lowest rate at 4.1%. The City’s civilian labor force increased 500 to 26,600.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate decreased 0.3% to 4.2% for the month of April 2024. The rate for the State was 3.1% in April 2023.
