The unemployment rate in January 2025 for the City of Mentor increased 1.0% to 3.9% and in January 2024, the unemployment rate was 3.5%. For Lake County, the unemployment rate increased 1.2% to 4.5% in January 2025 and one year prior, it was 4.0%.
Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Lakewood has the lowest unemployment rate with 3.4%, Mentor has the next lowest rate at 3.9%. Cleveland Heights has the third lowest rate with 4.0% followed by Parma with 4.5%. The City’s civilian labor force decreased to 25,300.
The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate increased 1.1% to 5.3% in January 2025. The rate for the State was 4.4% in January 2024.
