The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor decreased 0.1% to 3.8% for the month of July 2024. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 3.0%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate increased 0.1% to 4.2% for the month of July; one year prior, it was 3.3%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Mentor has the lowest unemployment rate with 3.8%, Lakewood has the next lowest rate at 4.0%, Parma has the third lowest rate with 4.4%, Kettering and Cuyahoga Falls have the fourth lowest rate at 4.6%, and Columbus has the fifth lowest rate at 4.7%. The City’s civilian labor force increased 400 to 27,600.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate decreased 0.2% to 4.9% for the month of July 2024. The rate for the State was 3.5% in July 2023.
