The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor increased 0.1% to 2.7% for the month of December 2024. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 2.5%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate increased 0.5% to 3.2% for the month of December; one year prior, it was 2.9%.
Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Mentor and Lakewood have the lowest unemployment rate with 2.7%, Cleveland Heights has the next lowest rate at 3.2%, Parma has the third lowest rate with 3.3%, and Kettering has the fourth lowest rate at 4.0%, and Columbus has the fifth lowest rate at 4.1%. The City’s civilian labor force decreased 400 to 26,800.
The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate increased 0.3% to 4.2% for the month of December 2024. The rate for the State was 3.1% in December 2023.
