The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor increased 0.2% to 3.3% for the month of September 2023. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 3.6%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate remained at 3.3% for the month of September; one year prior, it was 3.6%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Mentor, Columbus and Kettering have the lowest unemployment rate with 3.3%, Lakewood and Cuyahoga Falls have the next lowest rate at 3.4%. Parma has the third lowest rate with 3.7%, Springfield has the fourth lowest rate at 3.8%, and Cleveland Heights has the fifth lowest rate at 3.9%. The City’s civilian labor force decreased 400 to 26,900.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate decreased 0.2% to 3.5% for the month of September 2023. The rate for the State was 3.7% in September 2022.
