The city of Mentor has partnered with the Lake County Council on Aging to create and test a pilot emergency snowplowing assistance program. Operation Snowlift is designed to support low-to-moderate-income Mentor seniors who meet specific criteria and may struggle to afford per-push snow removal services. The pilot program will launch for the 2025-2026 winter season, providing up to 74 qualifying households with vouchers redeemable through a partner contractor for snow removal services during snow emergencies. The goal is to expand the program in the 2026-2027 winter season.

The Lake County Council on Aging has published the Request for Proposal (RFP) application for bidding contractors for the “Operation Snow Lift for Mentor Seniors” program.
