The Ice Arena will be opening on Monday, January 4th, barring any upcoming increases in COVID numbers or trends. We will open initially for the Mentor Youth Hockey program, the figure skating and synchro groups, adult hockey, and the high school hockey programs. We hope to offer our Learn to Skate program in February. We will continue to place our exclusive interest and intentions on the health and welfare of our users. To that end, we will re-open with updated protocols. The updated protocols will be posted publicly and will also be available on-site as well as upon your request. It is important to know that these protocols are a condition to re-opening and remaining open through the completion of the ‘20/’21 season.
The key updates are:
- SPECTATORS: There will be NO spectators for practices and ONE spectator per skater for games. This applies to parents, grandparents and siblings. Mite parents may assist in preparing their skater and will be asked to depart promptly.
- MASKS: Masks are to be worn by EVERYONE in the facility. This includes players, coaches, referees, scorekeepers, staff, spectators BOTH OFF AND ON THE ICE. Please have your mask on immediately upon entering the facility.
- LOCKER ROOMS: Available for games only. The existing mandate remains of requiring a Safe Sport certified team representative to monitor their use and to limit occupancy to EIGHT users at a time. The use of locker rooms is considered optional and no team meetings are to take place in them.
- ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE: All skaters are to arrive no sooner than FIFTEEN minutes before their scheduled ice time dressed and ready to take the ice. A special allowance will be extended to goalies due to the extra prep needed. All skaters and attendees are asked to depart from the arena immediately after their ice time.
- SIGNING IN: Everyone entering the Arena will be asked to sign in.
At this time, the Arena will be open exclusively for in-house groups, as noted above. No ice time will be available for rentals of users outside of these groups. Examples of this are group training in Studio Rink and tournaments. Ice will be used for the Arena’s regular programming only. This is for the health and welfare of our users and staff and for our best efforts to remain open through the completion of the season.
The Arena may close for any period of time up to the CDC mandated quarantine period for any health and welfare related reason. This includes a positive COVID test of a front line Arena employee, a coach who may have contact with more than his/her team, an increase in local COVID numbers or at the urging of State or County agencies. The Arena may also close should there be too many violations of protocols.
Any individual testing positive for COVID will be mandated to quarantine for the duration of the CDC mandated quarantine period as well as the team or group with which he/she is associated. ALL POSITIVE COVID TESTS ARE TO BE IMMEDIATELY REPORTED TO THE ARENA.
Any individual exposed to the virus must immediately quarantine for the CDC mandated quarantine period.
The last ice slot each night will end at or before 9:45PM.
