At approximately 9:55 AM on Friday, July 11, 2025, Mentor Police Officers were alerted by the FLOCK system about a U-Haul box truck reported stolen from Cleveland the previous day. Officers located the truck on Tyler Boulevard near SR-306 and attempted to stop it.

After briefly stopping, the driver fled westbound on Tyler Boulevard, then northbound on SR-306, and subsequently westbound on Industrial Parkway. As Industrial Parkway is a cul-de-sac, officers began checking local businesses for the truck. Several minutes later, the truck cut through a business property and emerged onto Palisades Parkway, turning northbound onto SR-306.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol unit in the area pursued the vehicle, with a Mentor unit assisting. The pursuit continued northbound on SR-306 into Mentor-on-the-Lake, then west on Salida Road, and south on Andrews Road where the truck rear-ended another vehicle, and struck a sign at the McDonald’s restaurant.

The driver, Rayvon Johnson, 36, of Cleveland, fled on foot but was apprehended after a short distance. No injuries were reported from the incident. Johnson was medically evaluated at Lake West Hospital before being transported to Mentor jail, where he was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Failure to Comply, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments, Driving with a Suspended License, No Driver’s License, and Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
