The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for the Ohio and Pennsylvania snowbelts beginning early Thursday through late Friday.

Mentor residents could expect 6″ to 10″ of snow through 7:00 PM Friday although this estimate could vary depending on how lake effect patterns set up.

Mentor Public Works will be out in full force to treat city streets during this snow event. Main streets will receive priority with collector and side streets to follow.

With the understanding that families and friends will be gathering throughout the city for the Thanksgiving holiday, we encourage driveway parking when at all possible so that plow crews can do their work with minimal obstacles in the roadway.

Please ensure that your vehicles are winter ready with adequate tread and washer fluid, and be sure to provide plenty of room for plow operators to maneuver. Remember to Move Over and Slow Down for emergency and safety vehicles along the side of the road.

Be sure to follow the National Weather Service Cleveland OH for weather updates.

We wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
