Rent a kayak, canoe, stand-up paddle board, or pedalboat, and explore the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve in a whole new way through Labor Day. Check out the blue trail that meanders through 3-miles of flat water and observe nature at its finest. Equipment is available to rent on an hourly basis, weekdays 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and weekends 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM (Last launch: 7:00 PM) through Labor Day. Rentals are first-come / first-served. MENTOR FARMERS MARKET
The Mentor Farmers Market is held Fridays from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Eleanor B. Garfield Park from through September 12, 2025. Established in 2003 as the Old Village Market, the Mentor Farmers Market has grown to over 30 vendors per week. Shoppers can enjoy an afternoon under century-old shade trees while supporting local farmers and artisans. OPERATION SNOWLIFT
The city of Mentor has partnered with the Lake County Council on Aging to create and test a pilot emergency snowplowing assistance program. Operation Snowlift is designed to support low-to-moderate-income Mentor seniors who meet specific criteria and may struggle to afford per-push snow removal services. The Lake County Council on Aging has published the Request for Proposal (RFP) application for bidding contractors for the “Operation Snow Lift for Mentor Seniors” program. The Lake County Council on Aging will soon announce a registration day and location where a limited number of applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. To participate, individuals must meet specific income and residency criteria.
MENTOR FINANCE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES AUDITOR OF STATE AWARD WITH DISTINCTION
The Ohio Auditor of State’s Office has presented the Mentor Finance Department with the Ohio Auditor of State Award with Distinction. This award is presented for excellence in financial recordkeeping and reporting related to our Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and compliance with applicable laws for the fiscal year ended 2024. It was noted that our Finance Department’s exemplary reporting serves as a standard for clean, accountable government, representing the highest level of service to Ohioans. PUBLIC COMMENT SOUGHT ON TWO MAJOR PROJECT
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is proposing to rehabilitate the I-90 corridor between the Kirtland Rd. bridge overpass to the Morley Rd. bridge overpass in the cities of Willoughby, Mentor, Kirtland Hills, and Concord Township. Work includes full depth pavement replacement of this six-mile section of I-90 in Lake County, including the pavement replacement of the SR 306 interchange ramps, the SR 615 interchange ramps and the Concord and Lake Rest Area ramps, improving bridge vertical clearance, rehabilitations to six overpass bridges, new drainage infrastructure, new signing and pavement markings, and lighting upgrades at the SR 306 and SR 615 interchanges. The City of Mentor proposes enhancing the I-90/SR-615 interchange by widening the bridge and both off-ramps. The project includes adding one lane to the bridge over I-90 to create a southbound left-turn lane and one lane to each off-ramp to provide a dedicated right-turn lane.
