Veterans Day Ceremony
Thanks to all who attended this year’s Veterans Day ceremony yesterday at the Mentor Municipal Cemetery Memorial Promenade. Our keynote speaker was Cynthia Parsons with Wounded Warriors. Those unable to attend can watch on YouTube.
Hometown Heroes Banners
Banners will be removed this week from and participating families will be notified by email when they are ready to pick up from the Mentor Municipal Center. Applications for the 2025 Hometown Heroes banner program will be posted in January.
Commission Meetings
The Building & Zoning Appeals Commission will meet tonight, November 12, 2024, at 7:00 PM in Mentor City Council Chambers. The Tree Committee will meet on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 4:30 PM at the Mentor Municipal Center first floor conference room. Both meetings are open to the public.
Senior Scam Presentation
The Mentor Police Department will conduct a presentation at the Mentor Senior Center on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM to educate seniors about common scams and how to protect themselves. It is free to attend but registration is required by calling (440) 974-5725.
Flag Retirement
A flag retirement ceremony will be held at the Mentor Municipal Cemetery on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Mentor residents with flags which are no longer a fitting emblem for display are asked to drop their flags off at the Mentor Municipal Center, Mentor Community Recreation Center, or the Mentor Municipal Cemetery, by 12:00 PM, Friday, November 15, 2024, for inclusion. Senior Center Arts & Crafts Sale
Have some fun and find some treasures at the Mentor Senior Center’s Arts and Crafts Sale on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Over 60 vendors will be on hand, as well as delicious food concessions. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
Turkey Roll on Ice

Watch Out for Deer While Driving
According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife, deer become visibly active in October, November and December. This is due in large part to the fall breeding season, which sometimes causes deer to dart into roadways with little caution. This unpredictable movement leads to an increase in deer-related vehicle crashes. Read more.
