The unemployment rate in the City of Mentor decreased by 0.8% to 4.7% for the month of September 2017.  One year ago, the unemployment rate was 4.6%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate decreased to 4.9%.

The City of Mentor’s unemployment rate tied at the sixth lowest among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more; Kettering (3.8%) and Columbus (3.9%) had the lowest unemployment rate followed by Cuyahoga Falls (4.2%), Lakewood (4.4%), Hamilton and Cincinnati (4.5%), and Springfield (4.7%).  The City’s civilian labor force declined to 26,400.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate decreased 0.6% to 4.7% for the month of September; 0.2% less than one year ago.
