Maintains the best ranking in the state among peer communities.

The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor decreased 0.4% to 4.0% for the month of August 2021. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 5.9%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate decreased 0.5% as well to 4.5% for the month of August; one year ago, it was 6.5%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, the City of Mentor’s 4.0% unemployment rate is the lowest. The City’s civilian labor force moved to 25,800.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate decreased 0.8% to 5.1% for the month of August, 2021.
