On April 8, 2024, a total eclipse will traverse the United States from Texas to Maine. If you haven’t already made your travel plans, here are some reasons why you should consider Mentor, Ohio as an ideal location to experience this historic event.
- 3:48 of totality! Over a minute longer than the 2017 eclipse.
- It’s an easy drive from the east coast. Mentor is just 2.5 hours from Pittsburgh, 6 hours from Washington DC, and 9 hours from Charlotte.
- Easy highway access. With 5 highway interchanges, Mentor is easy to get in and out of.
- Convenience…and plenty of free parking. Mentor is home to 9 hotels, 325 retailers, and over 170 restaurants, as well as one of the largest malls in the region.
- Mentor is also home to over a dozen parks with unobstructed views and paved parking. A free eclipse watch party will be held at the Mentor Civic Amphitheater from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM with a DJ, food trucks, family-friendly activities, and more. A limited amount of free eclipse glasses will also be available for attendees.
- There’s more to do! Stick around for a day or two and experience some great local attractions including the James A. Garfield National Historic Site, Mentor Marsh, Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve & Marina, Headlands Beach State Park & Nature Preserve, and more.
- This is simply something you’re not going to want to miss because the next eclipse isn’t scheduled to cross North America until 2044.
