The City has received several inquiries regarding the status of landscaping businesses as they relate to Ohio’s Stay at Home Order.

The Lake County General Health District has recently determined that essential landscaping activities at this time may include tree or branch removal, storm damage, snow removal, grass cutting when of nuisance length, or for insect/vector control.  General spring clean-up, flower-planting, mulching, fertilizing, hardscape installation, new projects, and other items should be considered non-essential.  However, the Stay at Home order permits businesses to continue regular operations where the business consists of a single person, so long as workplace safety standards are met.

Workers must maintain social distancing while performing their duties. This includes limiting one person per vehicle (the driver) at any time. Workers shall also wash their hands as often as possible.  Workers who have symptoms or are sick should be excluded from work and follow guidelines on self-isolation or quarantine if positive.
