The City of Mentor is pleased to announce the purchase of 2.7 acres of land at the northeast corner of Johnnycake Ridge Road and Plaza Boulevard for the purpose of building new Mentor Fire Station 3. This purchase was approved by Mentor City Council during the February 18, 2025, regular meeting.
The new location was selected to better serve residents and businesses in the area and to replace the 60-year-old facility that the current fire station occupies next to Eleanor B. Garfield Park on Mentor Avenue.
Demolition work has begun on the building at this location, commonly known as the old Sears Auto Center. Design of the new facility will begin this year with construction following thereafter. New Mentor Fire Station 3 is expected to be in service by the end of 2026.
