May 29: Children’s Musical Trail Extravaganza
The grand opening of the Wildwood Cultural Center musical trail will feature family-friendly entertainment and activities including a balloon artist. Special guests will include the Mentor Community Arts Commission, who supported the musical trail, and Mentor Rotary, who donated benches for this project. Refreshments will be available for purchase from We Are Fat Rolls, and You Enjoy My Donuts.
June 5: Polka Night with the Frank Moravcik Band
Enjoy Cleveland-Style polkas, waltzes, two-steps, and a variety of music renditions of Slovenian, German, Polish, and Czech favorites with the Frank Moravcik Band. Refreshments will be available for purchase from Hofbräuhaus food truck.
June 19: “Cardinals” Public Art Project
Paint a pair of ceramic cardinals; one to remain a part of the ‘flock’ on display at the Wildwood Cultural Center and the other to take home! Engage with members of the Mentor Community Arts Commission as they host this evening. Cost: $10 per cardinal. Purchase in advance by calling Wildwood at (440) 974-5735.
July 10: Hula Dancing Performance and Workshop with Pacific Paradise Entertainment
Enjoy a special performance from northeast Ohio’s premier hula and Tahitian dance group and get in on the fun as they offer instruction to our guests.
July 24: Variety Talent Showcase
Support local talent! The evening will feature performances by music, drama, dance, comedy, and other acts, as they compete for prizes! Audition dates: June 23, 2024, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and Wednesday, July 3, 2024, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. August 7: Plaid Sabbath
Plaid Sabbath is a non-profit Scottish and Celtic music workshop, incorporating musical instruments and styles played in traditional Scottish settings. Come to enjoy their special brand of traditional and not-so-traditional Scottish and Celtic music!
August 27: Johnny Joo Artist Reception
Meet Johnny Joo, an internationally acclaimed artist who is most notably recognized for his photography of abandoned architecture and surrealistic digital compositions. The Mentor-native has published numerous books, spoken word poetry, art installations and other digital and photographic works.
All events start at 6:30 PM. Free admission and parking. A limited number of picnic tables are available, guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. In the event of rain, events will be moved indoors with limited seating. Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted. Refreshments will be available for purchase on every date except August 27th.
Cultural Arts programming at Wildwood is presented by Medical Mutual and supported by Cleveland Clinic, Mutsko Insurance Services, Lincoln Electric, Mimi Vanderhaven, and the Tour Lake County.
