Residents and guests are reminded that eclipse totality will begin at 3:14 PM in Mentor, Ohio.
Eclipse viewing events are being held throughout the area including a FREE eclipse watch party at the Mentor Civic Amphitheater from 1 to 5 PM.
Featured guests will include Dr. Marie Henderson, a Planetary Scientist from NASA, and Tim Henderson, Research Associate/Geologist with the National Park Service’s Geologic Resources, WEWS Meteorologists Mark Johnson and Katie McGraw, and our friends at the James A Garfield National Historic Site.
This family friendly event will feature fun games and activities as well as a DJ. Refreshments will be available for purchase from area food trucks. A limited amount of eclipse glasses will also be available for those in attendance.
Restrooms will be open for your convenience at the amphitheater and city hall.
Due to the amount of precipitation in the area over the past week, motorists are advised to park in PAVED SPACES only.
We hope you enjoy your stay and ask that you please be courteous and patient while leaving Mentor. The Mentor Civic Amphitheater is located at 8600 Munson Road.
The Laketran Park & Ride Lot located at 8650 Market Street will be open to travelers wishing to view the eclipse. Portable toilet facilities will be available onsite.
Your safety matters! The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mentor Police, and other safety forces advise against parking along the highway. Instead, find a place to park with a clear view of the sky where you can watch the eclipse in safety.
Heavy traffic can be expected throughout Northeast Ohio immediately following the eclipse.
